FOUR DAYS IN VIENNA: A CITY GUIDE
Vienna
Vienna
Vienna

VIENNA

Vienna is the kind of city that makes you want to slow down, drink coffee in a chandelier-lit café, and pretend you live in a Wes Anderson movie. Regal yet welcoming, it's a place where imperial palaces meet cozy wine taverns, and classical music floats through the air as naturally as the scent of fresh strudel.

I spent four days in Vienna and honestly, it was the perfect amount of time to fall completely in love with this beautifully preserved European capital. Whether you’re a history buff, an art lover, or just looking for the best slice of sachertorte, Vienna has something for you.

FOUR DAYS IN PRAGUE: A CITY GUIDE
Prague

PRAGUE

Prague, with its romantic cobblestone streets, Gothic spires, and centuries-old charm, is truly a city that feels like stepping into a fairytale. It’s packed with history, yet buzzing with modern energy, where cozy cafés and cool cocktail bars sit next to castles and cathedrals.

During my visit in March, I only had two full days to explore, and let me tell you, it wasn’t nearly enough! I highly recommend at least three to four nights to truly soak in everything this stunning city has to offer.

WHAT TO DO AND SEE:

Charles Bridge
One of the most iconic sights in Prague. Go early in the morning for fewer crowds and dreamy views over the Vltava River.

Prague Castle
More of a complex than a single castle, this sprawling site includes palaces, courtyards, and chapels. Don’t miss St. Vitus Cathedral, it’s absolutely stunning.

Old Town Square & Astronomical Clock
The heart of Prague. Make time to watch the hourly clock show, then grab a drink at one of the nearby cafés for prime people-watching.

Mala Strana Neighborhood
Charming and less touristy, with quiet streets, hidden gardens, and pastel townhouses. One of my favorite areas to wander.

Lennon Wall
A colorful symbol of peace, rebellion, and art. Bring a Sharpie if you want to leave your mark.

Petřín Hill
For panoramic city views, take the funicular or hike up. There's a mini Eiffel Tower at the top (yes, really), plus peaceful gardens and wooded trails.

Final Thoughts

Prague is one of those cities that sneaks up on you—it’s romantic, walkable, and full of beautiful contradictions. Whether you’re into history, food, architecture, or just wandering without a plan, it’s the perfect long-weekend destination in Europe.

PART 3 DESTINATION WEDDING SERIES: FAQs ON ROOM BLOCKS

Hopefully you caught part 1 and part 2 of my destination wedding series, if not, here are the links!

Today’s series is continuing the topic on Room Blocks for your Destination Wedding.

You're three months out from your destination wedding, and suddenly, your room block disappears. Some guests still haven’t booked, and now the resort has released your unsold rooms. What happened?

You’ve likely hit your room block release date (also called a drop date or contract end date). This is the point where the resort reclaims any unbooked rooms and adds them back into general inventory. From this point forward, guests will need to book at the resort’s current rates, which are often much higher than the original contracted group rate.

If your guest is frustrated, I get it, but it’s also not your fault. As long as you’ve communicated the deadlines, given ample notice, and provided a clear way to book, you’ve done your part. But now, the window for easy access (and lower prices) has likely closed.

Can You Hold a Room for Someone Who Can’t Book Yet?

Yes, but you’ll need to pay for it upfront. If you know your friend’s mom’s cousin is definitely coming but can’t pay just yet, someone (you, them, or a generous family member) can book it to hold the rate. Just keep in mind: if they back out, you're financially responsible for the room.

How Many Rooms Should You Block?

I recommend blocking rooms for about half your expected guest count. If you're anticipating 100 guests, a 40–50 room block is typically a safe starting point. Many guests will share rooms, especially couples or families. We can always increase your block later, pending availability.

When Should You Set Up Your Room Block?

Immediately after confirming your resort and date. The earlier you contract, the better your chances at securing lower rates, flexible payment terms, and ideal room categories. Plus, your guests will have more time to book and pay.

Can’t Guests Just Book on Their Own?

Technically, yes. But here’s why I strongly recommend a room block:

  • Resorts sell out. If your guests wait or try to book outside the block, they may miss out entirely or pay significantly more.

  • You’ll miss out on perks. Free events, room upgrades, and resort credits are tied to how many rooms are booked within your block.

  • It causes guest drama. Rates vary if booked outside the block, which can lead to tension when guests compare what they paid.

  • It may cost YOU more. Resorts charge outside guest fees, typically $120+ per person, per day, if someone stays off-property but attends your wedding.

Let’s say just five guests stay off-site. That could easily cost you over $600 just in access fees—fees that could have been avoided with a room block.

Things You Might Not Know About Room Blocks

  • You may not always get the cheapest rate. Resorts offer perks like flexible payments and event credits, but not always the lowest room prices.

  • Online booking sites might show lower rates temporarily. These flash sales often come with strict, non-refundable terms and no access to wedding perks.

  • Only rooms booked through your block count toward your incentives. Even if everyone stays at the same resort, you won’t receive benefits unless they book through your group.

What’s the Risk?

The biggest risk is financial. If rooms in your block go unbooked, you may be responsible for them. That’s why having a travel advisor, like me, is so important. I’ll help you negotiate favorable terms, track deadlines, and manage bookings so you’re never caught off guard.

Final Thoughts from That Blonde Travels

Room blocks aren’t just a formality, they’re a smart strategy. They protect your guests’ rates, maximize your perks, and keep your destination wedding running smoothly. Whether you’re expecting 20 guests or 120, I’ll help you build a block that works for your budget, your timeline, and your peace of mind.

Let’s make your destination wedding effortless.

2 WEEKS IN GREECE: ATHENS, MYKONOS, PAROS, CRETE

GREECE ITINERARY: ATHENS, MYKONOS, PAROS, CRETE

Our 14-Day Greece Itinerary:

Athens (1 night)

Mykonos (3 nights)

Paros (3 nights)

Crete (5 nights)

Athens (1 night)

Total days: 14

Mykonos

When someone comes to me wanting to plan a custom vacation to Greece, I immediately get excited! Greece is one of my all-time favorite European countries, the food, the culture, the hospitality, it's truly hard to beat.

For my second trip to Greece, I wanted to experience both the energy of the “hot spots” and the ease of more under-the-radar gems. On my first visit, I explored Naxos, Paros, and Santorini. This time? We chose a blend of classic and new: Mykonos, Paros, and Crete.

ATHENS (1 night, pre-ferry/flight stay)

Athens is usually more of a gateway than a destination for me, but it’s always worth a short stop. I recommend staying in the Plaka area or near Syntagma Square for easy access to restaurants, shopping, and views of the Acropolis. One night is all you need if you're just passing through!

MYKONOS (3 nights)

Mykonos is exactly what you'd expect: buzzy beach clubs, whitewashed charm, and a mix of glam and grit. Yes, it can be busy, especially with cruise ships in port, but there’s also a calmer side.

We stayed just outside of town to enjoy a more relaxed vibe. Mykonos is great for foodies, couples, and even families (yes, really, if you avoid peak party zones). It’s a fun stop if you want a taste of the “see and be seen” Greek experience.

Tip: Book restaurants in advance and escape to less-crowded beaches like Agios Sostis for a quieter day.

PAROS (3 nights)

Paros continues to win us over, so much so, this was our second visit! It’s like Mykonos’ cooler, calmer cousin. No cruise ship crowds, plenty of charming villages, and incredible food.

We stayed in Naoussa, which is lively but not overrun, with beautiful waterfront dining and boutique shops. Rent a car or ATV to explore smaller villages like Lefkes and take a boat day to nearby Antiparos or Kolymbithres Beach.

Tip: Paros has the perfect mix of local charm and modern comfort. It’s ideal for couples, families, or anyone looking for laid-back luxury.

CRETE (5 nights)

Crete completely surprised us—in the best way. It’s rugged, vast, and packed with things to do. Whether you're hiking gorges, wandering historical towns, or relaxing at Balos Beach, Crete delivers.

We split our time between Chania (so charming and walkable) and Elounda for a quieter, more luxe finale. Crete is the largest Greek island and stays open year-round, making it a fantastic choice for shoulder season or travelers who want more than just sun and sand.

Tip: Don’t miss a cooking class or wine tasting in the countryside. Crete’s food scene is incredible and so rooted in tradition.

ATHENS (1 night before departure)

We wrapped up our trip with one final night in Athens to catch our flight home. This is always a good idea in case of ferry delays or schedule shifts. If you didn’t get to see the Acropolis at the start of your trip, now’s the time!

A Day at The Masters: Southern Tradition Meets Bucket-List Travel

A Day at The Masters: Southern Tradition Meets Bucket-List Travel

If there’s one sporting event that effortlessly blends tradition, beauty, and exclusivity, it’s The Masters. Held every April at the iconic Augusta National Golf Club, it’s a dream experience not just for golf lovers—but for anyone who appreciates a refined, once-in-a-lifetime atmosphere.

As a travel advisor, I curate high-end, unforgettable experiences around the world, but attending The Masters is truly something special. And after experiencing it firsthand, I can say: it lives up to the hype.

The Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia
The Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia

The Magic of The Masters

From the moment you step through the gates, time slows down. The towering Georgia pines, the chorus of polite Southern applause, the impossibly green fairways, it’s like walking into a perfectly manicured dream. And yes, the azaleas really are that vibrant.

Phones aren’t allowed, which may sound inconvenient—but it turns out to be one of the most refreshing parts of the day. You’re unplugged and totally present. It’s a rare feeling, and one I didn’t realize I needed.

My Favorite Way to Spend the Day

While every day at The Masters is special, Friday or Saturday is my favorite. The competition is heating up, the energy from the crowd is building, and the weather tends to be just right.

I love to settle in at Amen Corner or up on the hill at Hole 3, both spots offer fantastic views and a peaceful, almost sacred vibe. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or just soaking it in for the first time, these are the places where the spirit of the tournament really comes alive.

The Food You Can’t Miss

Sure, it’s a luxury event, but the concessions are famously simple and affordable. My go-to combo? An egg salad sandwich followed by the legendary peach ice cream sandwich. Sweet, creamy, and totally worth the sticky fingers.

Pro Shop Pro Tips

The Masters merchandise is elite, but shopping at Augusta requires strategy:

  • Phones aren’t allowed, so bring a written list of what you want (and anyone you're shopping for).

  • Go early in the week if you can as there’s more variety and sizes in stock.

  • You can ship your purchases home from the course, which I highly recommend if you're going all in (which, let's be honest—you probably will).

  • If you leave the pro-shop spending less than $1000, you’re doing great!

Want to Experience It for Yourself?

Getting tickets to The Masters isn’t easy, but that’s where I come in. I work with trusted partners to help secure badges, VIP hospitality, and accommodations in and around Augusta. Whether you're flying in for a day or building a full Southern itinerary around it, I can help make it seamless.

Want to stay in Savannah, relax at The Montage Palmetto Bluff, or head to Charleston for some yummy eats? Let's design a trip worthy of the green jacket.

Ready to plan your day at The Masters?
Want to check this off your bucket list in 2026? I’d love to help.

If you're searching for a luxury cruise experience that blends the elegance of a high-end resort with the freedom of the open sea, Explora I from Explora Journeys should be at the top of your list. I recently had the incredible opportunity to embark on a 9-night sailing, exploring breathtaking destinations from Miami to the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, St. Barths, Tortola, and back. Spoiler alert: it was an unforgettable journey.

Itinerary & Accommodations

Vessel: Explora I
Duration: 9 nights
Route: Miami → Dominican Republic → San Juan, Puerto Rico → St. Barths → Tortola → Miami
Fully Inclusive Rate: Starting at ~$5k per person (double occupancy) in the entry-level suite

We initially booked an entry-level suite but were thrilled to receive an upgrade to the Premier Penthouse (Room 10045) just days before sailing. The extra space was fantastic, and if I sail again, I would absolutely love to experience the Cove Residence, which features a separate bedroom and a private Jacuzzi on the balcony.

Our suite host provided excellent service, keeping our space spotless and ensuring a seamless turn-down service each evening.
